"The chemical safety of products is a recognised aspect of product sustainability"
(recital no. 26 of the European ESPR or "Ecodesign" regulation)
(recital no. 26 of the European ESPR or "Ecodesign" regulation)
Continuously expanding but with an increasingly unified and harmonised vision, the European regulatory framework governing chemical safety is being integrated into requirements for sustainable products and investments, such as the Ecodesign Regulation, the Taxonomy Regulation and the CSDDD Directive on corporate sustainability due diligence.
Our compliance with the countless applicable regulations for chemical compliance is the result of constant assessment of the raw materials used, the production process and the characteristics of the finished products, in relation to the company's role in the production chain under REACH and any restrictions or bans on substances of concern imposed at national, European or international level to protect human health and the environment.
Information on the chemical compliance of our products, available directly or on request, allows downstream users to implement their compliance position with regard to the raw materials used.

1. EU standards on chemical compliance of products
Regulation (EC) No. 1907/2006 of the European Parliament and of the Council is the reference standard in the European Union for the manufacture, import and safe use of substances, mixtures and articles.
It aims to ensure the highest level of protection for human health and the environment, while maintaining the competitiveness of the internal market in the chemical sector.
The European Chemicals Agency (ECHA) has been established as a technical and administrative reference point for all member countries.
The following declaration of conformity analyses the points relevant to the application of the regulation: product classification, company role, restrictions on hazardous substances and information along the supply chain.

Regulation (EC) No. 1272/2008 supplements the REACH Regulation and establishes classification criteria and labelling rules for hazardous substances and mixtures.
In line with the international GHS (Globally Harmonised System) model, the European regulation updates hazard classes and hazard categories for classification; pictograms, warnings, hazard statements and precautionary statements for the labelling of hazardous substances and mixtures.
The semi-finished steel products we manufacture are safe products. The metal alloys they are made of do not have any hazardous properties and, as articles and not substances or mixtures, do not require a safety data sheet.
In order to pass on any useful information that may contribute to the safe use of our products, a product information sheet (SIP) is prepared in accordance with the format set out in Annex II of the REACH Regulation for SDS (Safety Data Sheets) for substances and mixtures.

Directive 2011/65/EU restricts the use of certain hazardous substances in the manufacture of electrical and electronic equipment (EEE) by establishing maximum concentration limits, in order to contribute to the protection of human health and the environment.
These substances are not present in the raw materials we use and are not intentionally added during processing. Some of them may be present in the products only as unavoidable impurities, in concentrations that are in any case below the specific limits established.
Declaration of conformity available on request.

European Directive 2012/19/EU establishes procedures for the environmentally sound recovery and disposal of waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE), affirming the principle of producer responsibility for end-of-life products.
Our products, as such, do not require any selective treatment as specified in Annex VII for WEEE and comply with this directive.

European Directive 2000/53/EC on end-of-life vehicles concerns the exemption from the use of certain substances considered hazardous above a certain limit. With this document, ORI Martin declares its compliance with Directive 2000/53/EC regarding the use of lead, mercury, hexavalent chromium and cadmium.

Regulation (EU) 2019/1021 (POP) and Regulation (EC) No. 1907/2006 (REACH) have introduced, through subsequent and specific acts, restrictions on PFAS, establishing bans on their production, placing on the market and use, as such or as components in mixtures/articles.
The characteristics of the raw materials used and the metallic nature of steel make it possible to exclude the presence of these restricted substances in the finished products we place on the market.

Regulation (EU) 2024/590 of the European Parliament and of the Council establishes rules on the production, import, export, placing on the market, use, recovery, recycling, regeneration and destruction of substances that deplete the ozone layer; this document defines corporate compliance for products placed on the market.
Knowledge of the raw materials used, the manufacturing process and the analytical profile of the finished product show that no substances listed in Annex I or Annex II of the current ODS Regulation are present in the steels we produce.

Regulation (EU) 2017/821 establishes supply chain due diligence obligations for importers of tin, tantalum and tungsten, their minerals, and gold (3TG) originating in conflict-affected and high-risk areas.
As a downstream user, our company also fulfils its due diligence obligations by applying a control procedure to verify the absence of these metals in the raw materials used and/or in the finished products.
We use the standard CMRT (Conflict Minerals Reporting Template) reporting tool provided by RMI (Responsible Minerals Initiative) to inform downstream parties about the absence of "3TG" metals in our products.

2. US regulations on chemical compliance of products
The TSCA (Toxic Substances Control Act) and subsequent amendments is the main national law in the United States on the management of chemicals and gives the EPA (Environmental Protection Agency) the authority to regulate substances that are hazardous to humans and the environment.
Through individual regulations, the Agency has established, as of 6 January 2021, a ban on the production/importation and restrictions on the use of five PBT (Persistent, Bioaccumulative and Toxic) substances that are hazardous to the environment.
Knowledge of the raw materials used, the manufacturing process and the analytical profile of the finished product show that the five PBT substances prohibited by the EPA are not present in the raw materials used, are not intentionally added during the manufacturing process and, finally, are not present in the steels we produce.
We therefore affirm our company's compliance with the TSCA regulation on restrictions on the manufacture, marketing and use of these substances in the United States of America.

The Safe Drinking Water and Toxic Enforcement Act is a US law designed to protect the public from exposure to toxic chemicals in drinking water, the environment and purchased products.
The California Office of Environmental Health Hazard Assessment (OEHHA) publishes a list of chemicals (Proposition 65 List) identified as carcinogenic and/or toxic to reproduction.
Some metallic elements present in the steel we produce are included in this list but in a different state from that of a metal alloy, therefore no warning is required for our semi-finished products.
Complex articles and objects obtained from the processing of steels produced by ORI MARTIN S.p.A. may, due to the addition of new substances or use for specific purposes and under specific conditions, or simply as a precautionary measure, require warning labelling, an example of which is provided in the declaration we supply.

The US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has established rules to be applied to "Conflict Minerals" (CM), minerals from which metals also known as "3TG" are extracted: tantalum, tin, tungsten and gold, based on the provisions of Section 1502 of the Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act of 2010.
As a downstream user, our company fulfils its due diligence obligations by applying a control procedure to verify the absence of these metals in the raw materials used and/or in the finished products.
